Philip Warren Brassie, 73, of San Angelo, TX, passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 in Brookdale Senior Living Center with his daughter Chloe' at his bedside. Phil fought a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's disease for many years. A memorial service will take place Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church at 11:00 am. Phil was born in Lafayette, Indiana to Paul and Doris Brassie who preceded him in death. Phil graduated from Jefferson High School and went on to earn his BS and Masters in Journalism from Indiana State University. Mr. Brassie also served in the US Army. Phil had over a 40-year career in broadcasting in the states of: Indiana, Washington, DC, Illinois, Tennessee, Missouri, and Texas. Before his retirement Phil worked at KLST TV for 12 years as General Manager/Vice President and at Cox Cable. Phil loved the Broadcasting world and was an active member of NAB, National Association of Broadcasters. Mr. Brassie was also an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Phil loved the outdoors and was a gifted handyman. He loved working in his yard and repairing and building things around his home. He could often be found in his garage repairing something or building something new for the house. He also enjoyed golfing before his disease made it impossible to play the sport. He treasured his "fur friends" Daisey and Clinton who resided with him at Brookdale. He is survived by his beloved children; Ty Brassie of California, Kerry Mullet of Goshen, Indiana, and Chloe' Brassie of San Angelo, TX. Brothers; P. Stanley Brassie and wife Fay of Monroe, GA, Stuart Brassie and wife Alice of St. Louis, MO, Randy Brassie and wife Donna of Lafayette, Indiana, and sister, Beverly Baker and husband Timothy of California. Grandchildren; Hannah and Jessica Brassie and Derek, Connor, and Leslie Mullet and 11 nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Chloe' Brassie for her devotion and dedication to her father's care during this difficult time. They would also like to thank the Brookdale Manager Sabrina Munns and her staff, Kindred Hospice and nurse Angela Lassetter, Dianne Bass and her team of caregivers, and caregiver Yolanda Gomez for the care they gave to Phil during the final stages of his disease. The family suggests that memorials in his name be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in San Angelo, TX or to the Parkinson's Support Group of San Angelo, TX.
