Rusty & Michelle Tapp

Rusty & Michelle Tapp

Owner/Funeral Director

Robert Massie Funeral Home has always been family owned and operated since its opening in 1906. Continuing that tradition, Rusty and Michelle Tapp purchased the funeral home and moved to San Angelo, January 31, 2018. The Tapps are excited to be involved in the San Angelo community and make it their new home.

Rusty Tapp grew up in Amarillo and graduated from Tascosa High School in 1989. After marrying Michelle in 1990, he attended the Dallas Institute of Funeral Service where he received his degree in 1991. He worked as a funeral director and embalmer in Lamesa and Dumas before settling in Pampa at Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors for almost 25 years.  He is a member of the Lions Clubs International and the San Angelo Chamber of Commerce. Rusty and Michelle enjoy supporting and attending sports events at Angelo State. They also enjoy leading a group of young professionals in their Community Life Group at PaulAnn Church.

Michelle also grew up in Amarillo, graduating from Amarillo High School in 1987. She received her bachelor's degree in English with a minor in history from West Texas A&M University. After teaching high school World History for several years, she became a stay-at-home mom and homeschooled their two daughters, Cayley and Camryn, through high school. Since moving to San Angelo, Michelle has become a CASA volunteer, and she enjoys attending Community Bible Study and other ladies' Bible studies at PaulAnn.

After graduating from Texas State University in San Marcos, Michelle relocated to New Braunfels, where she taught Special Education over the next several years. During that time, she raised 6 children (3 boys & 3 girls), keeping their education first priority and being actively involved in multiple sports, including AAU Jr. Olympics. She is now a very proud Nanna to 13 grandbabies.

Michelle's other accomplishments include working with the elderly in assisted living and Alzheimer homes, serving as a pharmacy tech and funeral assistant as well as entrepreneurship in cleaning services.

Upon moving to San Angelo, Michelle remarried and began a new journey in life which has included adventurous driving cross country with her husband, Brian, in a semi-truck. More recently,  she has found her calling in helping families during times of need which has led her to return to funeral service.
