Mrs. Wynne was born on July 5, 1941, in San Angelo, Texas. Kay was the daughter of A.B. Carter and Granville “Ann” Carter. She was a member of the first graduating class of San Angelo Central High School in 1959. Her class was the first to attend the “new” high school as seniors. Kay attended San Angelo Junior College before she married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Bill Wynne, on June 10, 1960.
Kay was a devoted wife and mom. She dedicated her life to raising her daughters and supporting her husband. An avid reader, she shared a love of books with her girls, whose earliest memories included her reading books to them and supporting their educational endeavors and extracurricular activities. Kay attended choir concerts, gymnastics meets, and supported drill team events and cheerleading activities. She loved, guided, and advised her girls wisely her entire life and was always a phone call away no matter how large or small the need. In later years she loved talking to and about her granddaughters, and actively sought to support their higher education. She loved plants, especially African violets and geraniums. Kay loved animals dearly, particularly her beloved dogs past and present; Tippy, Busy, Jay-Jay, Domino, Blackjack, Barney, Mikey, and most recently, Dudley.
Mrs. Wynne was preceded in death by her parents, A.B. and Granville “Ann” Cobblin Carter both of San Angelo.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Bill; two daughters, Pamela Combs and husband Bill of Fort Worth, Texas, and Kimberly Ward and husband Peter of Dallas, Texas; two granddaughters, Isabella Ward and Charlotte Ward; and precious lifelong friend, Sharalee Pierce of San Angelo.
The family would like to offer their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff of The Springs Memory Care in San Angelo for their loving care and support. The family would also like to thank Kindred Hospice for their kindness and expertise in navigating the past few months.
