Betty Jean was born June 17, 1947 to Ben Smith and Velma Crisp in San Angelo. She lived most of her life in Irion County. She attended Bible College and was a devout child of Christ. Betty married Larry Monette in 1968 and they had two children, Sandra Jean in 1970 and Joseph Blake in 1973. Although she lost both in childbirth, she cherished their memory and spoke of them often. Betty had many jobs in her 75 years of life, but her calling was in helping others and spent most of her career in home health care, retiring at the age of 70 in Brownwood. Betty loved crafting, quilting, and gardening. She was funny and loved a battle of wits or a good game of dominoes.

Betty is survived by her husband of almost 56 years, Larry Monette of San Angelo; a sister, Cora Ellen Boys of Wilmington, Delaware; and a multitude of nieces, and nephews that she loved as if they were her own.

Betty is being met in heaven by her parents, her two children, her siblings, Greenville "Hank" Smith, William "Delbert" Smith, Joseph "Jodie" Smith, Benny Smith, Henry "Pete" Smith, Myrtle Smith, Janie Lee Dyson, Duwain Smith, and her twin brother, Billy Dean Smith.

Honorary pallbearers will be D. "Scooter" Smith, Benny Smith, Robert "Bob" Smith, Matthew Duke, Joe Duke and Tony Calzada.
