Caroline C. Gregg, 86, passed away Friday June 25, 2004 at a local hospital. A family visitation will be Sunday June 27, 2004 from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Services will be 1:00 PM, Monday June 28, 2004 at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel in San Angelo, TX with a committal service to follow at 3:30 PM in Trinity Memorial Park, Big Spring, TX, with Dr. Kenneth G. Patrick officiating. Caroline was born September 5, 1917 to Charles and Margaret Hefron Carson in Des Moines, Iowa. She served in World War II as a proud member of the Women's Auxiliary Army Corps (WAAC). She faithfully attended WAAC reunions around the country until she could no longer do so. She trained in Fort Des Moines and was a radio operator at Eglin AFB, FL, where she met and married the love of her life, Eudis Gregg on October 10, 1945 in Fort Walton Beach FL. They were both sergeants when they married and spent 57 loving years together until his passing in January 2003. Caroline had a career with the Civil Service at Webb AFB, where she was a procurement clerk. Caroline was a very social person. She enjoyed dancing, bingo, bunko, and parties. Bowling was her favorite pastime, however and she bowled for 40 years, until age 75. She still has bowling buddies in Big Spring. She was a Gray Lady for the American Red Cross. She never forgot a name in a social setting. Caroline had a penchant for singing and always remembered the words to all the songs. She took over the mike at the karaoke sing-along at the Baptist Memorial Center. She enjoyed recounting her experiences as a child, especially dipping chocolates in her father's candy store, Carson's Candy Kitchen, in Des Moines. Caroline was a faithful financial contributor to many causes, kept good correspondence and always remembered birthdays. She will be truly missed by all you knew and loved her. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband; son, Paul Gregg; siblings, Pearl Yost, John and Harold Carson, Bonnie Yule, Mary Fowler and Pauline Carson. Survivors include her son,Peter Gregg and wife Gloria of San Angelo, 5 granddaughters: Amanda Gregg of Waco, Roseanne Gregg of Waco,Paula Baker and husband Brad of San Angelo,Theresa Gregg of San Antonio, Ceci Zarate and husband Manuel of Mesa AZ; Grandson,Peter C. Gregg of Baltimore MD; Three great grandchildren, Numerous Brother-n-laws and sister-n-laws, nieces and nephews in Texas, Iowa, Washington, Nevada, South Carolina and Canada. The family would like to give a very special thanks to the Drs. Walter Hewell, and Jesse Jurado, the nurses and staff of Angelo Community Hospital and the nurses, staff and the Physician Assistant at Baptist Memorial Center, the Glen Meadows Baptist Church, Mary Lou and Mario Reyes and Beulah Rodriguez.
