Delmar Lee (D.L.) Slone, 78, of Christoval, passed away Monday, February 7, 2005 in San Angelo. Family visitation will be held from 6:00-7:00 PM, Wednesday, February 9, 2005 at the Robert Massie Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, February 10, 2005 at the Robert Massie Riverside Chapel with Eddie Howard of Southgate Church of Christ officiating. Masonic Rites and burial will be at the Christoval cemetery. Arrangements are made by Robert Massie Funeral Home. D.L. was born in San Angelo to J.B. and Elizabeth Slone on July 25, 1926. He graduated from Sonora High School. He married Faylene Arnold on October 15, 1945 in Mertzon, Texas. He worked in many capacities in the oil field and retired as Plant Manager at Susan Peak for Marathon Oil. He was a veteran of World War II and served in the Army. He was a member of the Christoval Masonic Lodge #901 and received his 40 year pin in 2004. D.L. is preceded in death by his parents, J.B. and Elizabeth, his wife Faylene and brother Tony. Sons Delmar and wife Jeri of Christoval, Daved and wife Bonnie of Pflugerville and daughter Dixie and husband Larry of Durango, Colorado survive Delmar Lee. Six grandchildren, Becca Slone of Christoval, Jeremy Slone of Crestline, CA., Brenna Nelson of Harker Heights, Shelly Jackson and Lacy Young of Durango, Colorado and Andy Young of Abilene, also survive him. Five great-grandchildren, Trevor Lee and Kaleb Sean Jackson of Durango, Colorado; Landon and Laney Slone of Crestline, CA., and Lance Young of Abilene also survive him. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Andy Young, Billy McCleery, George A. Foelker, Jr., Dan Lang, Lonnie Arnold, Ronnie Arnold. The family requests memorials be made to the Institute of Cognitive Development Inc. at P.O. Box 5018, San Angelo, TX 76902. The family would like to extend special thank-yous to Dr. Kirk Brewer, Angelo Community ICU Nurses, Regency House and Hospice of San Angelo.
