Ernest Enriquez Flores Sr., 77 of San Angelo, our beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend passed away Monday June 21, 2004 at a local nursing home after a courageous battle with cancer. Graveside services will be 2:30 PM Thursday June 24, 2004 at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens with Father Quirino Cornejo officiating. Arrangements are by Robert Massie Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be his beloved grandsons. Ernest was born in Rotan, TX on July 5, 1926 to John and Maria Enriquez Flores Sr. He served in the United States Army during World War II as a rifleman in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater of Operations with the 4th Infantry Division. During his time of service he was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Ribbon with 1 Bronze Star; Good Conduct Medal; Philippine Liberation Medal with 1 Bronze Star; Victory Ribbon; Army Occupation Ribbon (Japan) 2 Overseas bars. He was Honorably Discharged on November 25, 1946. He married Alice Jacques on March 28, 1947 in San Angelo, TX and went to work to support his family in various facets of the restaurant business and was working with Holsum Bakery at the time of his retirement. Ernest was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Elvira Arocha; brothers Eusebio, Juan Jr. and Porfirio Flores Sr. and sister-n-law Trina Owens. Survivors include his wife, Alice Jacques Flores; sons, Ernest Flores Jr.; Ricardo Flores Sr.; daughters Celia Wooldridge and husband Robert, Rosa Borremans, Dalia Flores and Patsy Flores,; brother, Tony Flores and wife Eva; sister, Rebecca Rodriquez and sister-n-law, Dinazar Perez, Fay and Genoveva Flores all of San Angelo; grandchildren, Monique Villalpando, Nicolas Knight, Michelle Flores, Ricardo Jr., Joseph and David Flores all of San Angelo, Tim and Larry Borremans of Talequah, OK, Mark Ahola, Amanda Opel and Husband Jeff, and Amy Ahola all of Dallas; great-grandchildren, Christian Bator, Dustin Unger, Cody Barrientes all of Dallas, Aaron Kyle Haspel of San Angelo; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In his 77 years of life, he became a friend to many and earned the love and trust of all he came in contact with. He will be missed by all, but above all by his family who cherished and adored him. The family would like to extend its sincere appreciation to Doctors Carl Anderton, Raj Cheruku and all their staffs for the care they provided during our father's illness. We would like to extend a most grateful appreciation to the staffs of Park Plaza Nursing Center and Hospice of San Angelo for helping make this time more bearable for all of us. The family request memorial contributions be made to the Hospice of San Angelo. "The day you became our father, you became the essence of our existence; becoming a timeless artery in our souls, spirits and our minds- extending to our other arteries, our children, grandchildren, and even great grandchildren that came from you, OUR DAD, for always to be, TIMELESS."
