Edna Fay Price

Edna Alexander Price, name meaning, "rejuvenation, delight", was a provider, caregiver, hard worker, travel enthusiast, a friend to all who let her, and most importantly a mother, passed away suddenly on Monday, September 27th at the age of 73.

Edna was born and raised in Longview, Texas to Stephen, and Juanita Alexander on August 17th, 1948. She had two brothers, James Smith and Ardas Glenn Alexander.

Early years:
Edna had many friends in Longview. But one of her closest friends, Mary Alice Ojo Simon, became her sister. Mary had a little brother, Benny, and a little sister, Kathy, and let us not forget about Mr. and Mrs. Simon, their parents. Edna was adopted by them all. Edna's family and new extended family soon became one. The Simons are still apart of our family today.

Edna was a graduate of segregated Mary C. Womack High School in 1966, where she was a cheerleader and honors student. Edna then moved to Denton, Texas to attend the University of North Texas. While at the University of North Texas she became part of the first black sorority on campus, Delta Sigma Theta. While attending the University of North Texas, Edna began working for GTE as a switchboard operator in 1968. This would, unknowingly, start her career in telecommunications that would last well over 30 years. It was in Edna's early GTE days in Denton where she would meet another dear friend and sister, Pat Clay.

Edna was married to Russell Price and had a son, Stephen Price. They divorced shortly after, and she moved to Baytown, Texas in 1974. It was in Baytown that Edna convinced her mother to move in with her. Juanita would live with Edna under her care till her last days in the year 2000, but I digress. She lived in Baytown with her mother and son till she transferred with GTE to San Angelo in 1979.

Edna got remarried to Melvin Robinson in 1983 and was blessed with a stepson, Marcus Robinson. Even though they divorced, Edna's son still considers them father and brother till this very day.

Edna lived a wonderful life. She loved to travel and be with her family and friends. She will be remembered as a loving and caring person. She will be missed. We will always carry her memory in our hearts. If Edna were here she would thank the following along with her son:

Fresh Start of San Angelo- Adrianna Rocha, Cindy Magdalena, Tina Goltl and Breyanna Polanco. They were always there to lend a helping hand and their love will always be remembered.

Jesse Scott and Robert Martin- They were always there when needed and added security and love to Edna's life. I love you both more than you know.

Jessica Price- If Edna were here today, she would give Jessica a big hug, kiss and thank Jessica for her love, patience and willingness to go above and beyond. I try to do this daily. Jessica kept not only Edna, but the entire household going. Edna once told her son, "You are blessed to have Jessica in your life!". No truer words could ever be spoken.

Ruth Cajas- Words can't express the love Edna felt for this extraordinary woman. She was a friend long before she became a caregiver to Edna. Her love and devotion on display always. When Edna was no longer able to speak, she would look at Ruth and just cry and hug her to show her gratitude. I truly believe that Ruth's beautiful face was the last my mother remembered. Ruth was and is a true angel. I love and miss her so much.

I would like to thank all that were not mentioned as well. Thank you!

Edna was preceded in death by her parents, brother, James Smith and nephew, Ardas Glenn Alexander Jr.

Edna is survived by her brother and sister in law, Ardas and Alice Alexander, her sons and daughter in law, Stephen and Jessica Price, and Marcus Robinson, her niece, Felisha Alexander Bates and her husband Chris Bates, her nephew, Jarvis Alexander, and her grandchildren, Caleb Price, McKayla Price, Colby Price, Robert Martin and Jesse Scott.

Reception to follow funeral and any donations, gifts, or flowers can be sent or dropped off at Fresh Start of San Angelo, 110 S. Taylor
