Eileen Ann (Bakshta) Strickland

Eileen Ann Strickland, 92, of San Angelo passed away Friday, December 9, 2022.

Eileen's family is hosting a celebration of life gathering at Lyndale San Angelo Senior Living, 6101 Grand Ct Rd, San Angelo, TX 76901 from 2:00pm - 4:00pm on Friday, 16 Dec 2022, for friends to share memories. Arrangements are under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Mrs. Strickland was born February 3, 1930 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She was the youngest of five children born to Wasyl and Anna Carpe Bakshta. After graduating from the Milwaukee County Hospital School of Nursing, she joined the US Air Force Nurse Corps. While in service, Eileen met and married Stan Strickland. She was a homemaker and was involved in her childrens' activities until the youngest of her four children was in junior high school. She then renewed her R.N. license and worked at the Clinic Hospital which later became Angelo Community Hospital. Eileen was Head Nurse on the med/surg floor for 30 years until she resigned to work as office nurse for Dr. Fazlur Rahman. Eileen was an Oncology Certified Nurse and was active in the American Cancer Society and the Oncology Nursing Society. After retiring from nursing, Eileen enjoyed traveling, volunteer work with the R.S.V.P. program, and being a part of the computer club at the Senior Center. She collected butterfly items and jewelry and always wore "something butterfly". She was a fan of the TV series Star Trek and collected memorabilia and figurines of the show. She was an avid reader and enjoyed doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles.

Her parents and each of her siblings and their spouses preceded her in death.

She is survived by her children, J. Charles "Chuck" (Katie), Lee (Christine), Scott, and Cindy Sedlak (Lenny); her granddaughters, Ashley and Juliana "Ana"; and a niece and several nephews.
