Helen (Holden) Smith

Helen Smith, age 91, entered the gates of Heaven on August 16, 2021.

Public viewing will be held on Thursday, August 19, 2021, at Robert Massie Funeral Home from 9:00 AM until 8:00 PM. The family will receive guest from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, August 20, 2021, at 10:00 AM Fairmount Cemetery.

Helen, a lifelong resident of San Angelo was born on November 9, 1929, in San Angelo to Townsend Buster "Bus" and Grace Hannum Holden. She graduated from Robert Lee High School in 1946.

Helen began her career at San Angelo Telephone Company and retired from GTE after thirty years when the operator services closed. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where she was baptized in 1999.

She was a multifaceted individual that loved to quilt, garden, cook and spend time with family. Her yard always was beautiful and well kept, her chicken fried steak and fried chicken will be missed. Holidays were her favorite time as she loved hosting and preparing feasts to share with her family.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the doctors and staff of The Springs Memory Care and Kindred Hospice for the care given to Helen and to the family during her time of need.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, by a brother, Rodger Holden and by a sister Hazel Holden.

She is survived by her three daughters, Helen Doylene Drury and her husband Richard of Swansea, IL, Edwina Gayle Murphy of Valrico, FL and by Janelle D'ann Sepulveda and her husband David of San Angelo; 8 grandchildren, Matthew Drury, Mark Drury, Scotty Murphy , Lisa Casazza , Tyler Miller, Davy Sepulveda, Stacy Bryan and Jessica Burditt; and by ten great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, the American Cancer Society, or a charity of choice.
