James "Jim" Douglas Modgling, Jr., 66, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, September 1, 2020, in Sonora.
Memorial Graveside Services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, September 5, 2020, at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens with Pastor John Guerrero officiating. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home in San Angelo. Mr. Modgling was born November 23, 1953 in San Marcos to James and Ora Nell Payne Modgling. Jim attended and graduated for Junction High School in 1972. He played many sports and was an outstanding athlete. He was a resident of Sonora since 2005. Jim married Tammy Lynn Smith on November 1, 1985 in Sonora. He worked at Love's Truck Stop in Sonora. Jim loved his job and all the people he worked with, and he loved Dr. Pepper. Jim will be loved and missed by many.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Tammy Lynn Modgling; father-in-law, Robert S. Smith; daughter, Kelli Harames and husband Robert; son, Justin McDaniel; four grandchildren, Amber Harmes, Shane McDaniel, Emily Lovelace, and Olivia Harames; sister, Joyce Casparis and husband John; two brothers, Lee Modgling, and Gary Modgling; nieces and nephews, Johnell Casparis, Quinton Modgling, and Samantha, Debra Rhea Smith, Aaron, Teagan, and Aidyn, Leslie Huckabee Smith, Cory, Max, and Aiden, and Bradley Huckabee. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law, Scharlotta Schlegal Smith; and a sister-in-law, Holly Smith Huckabee.
