Jenelle Barron was born on October 12, 1923, to Jim and Gladis (Lewis) Barron. She was born in her grandparent's house on Pulliam Street in San Angelo on her daddy's birthday. Jenelle was an only child and was always a "Daddy's girl".

Jenelle grew up on the family ranch in southeast Tom Green County. Her family raised registered Hereford cattle, Angora goats, and sheep.

Jenelle's family has a long history in ranching. Her grandfather on her father's side, W.C. Barron, had a ranch in Coke County which he later sold and then purchased the Lipan Springs Ranch in Tom Green County that is just north of the Jim Barron Ranch. Her grandfather on her mother's side, T.J. Lewis, ranched in Coleman County and later moved to San Angelo where he operated a feed store.

Jenelle has many stories of growing up on the ranch and working alongside her father and the ranch hands. She also learned to drive the ranch truck at a very young age which might have pointed her toward her later career with the DPS Driver's License Service.

Jenelle attended school in San Angelo until the 4th grade when she went to boarding school in Abilene. She attended High School at Our Lady of Victory (OLV) in Ft Worth. Following high school she attended Texas Women's University in Denton, Texas.

After college Jenelle worked at many jobs in San Angelo. She worked at Cox- Rushing-Greer Co., Hemphill Wells, Cox Funeral Home, Sears Credit Department, several finance companies, and the Elks Lodge #1880. In 1955 Jenelle began her career with the Texas Department of Public Safety Driver's License Service. She worked for DPS for 31 years and 8 months, retiring in May of 1987.

Jenelle enjoyed being at the ranch, being outdoors and seeing the livestock, especially the babies. She loved her horses, as well as the dogs that she considered to be her children. Jenelle was especially fond of her German Shepherds. She maintained beautiful yards at her home in town, as well as at the ranch. She spent countless hours growing beautiful flowers and plants.

Jenelle is survived by cousins Betty Dusek of Van Court and Gay Allen of Austin. She is also survived by a host of special friends with whom she shared many memories.

Special thanks are extended to the staff of New Haven Assisted Living, especially Rea Beach and Julia Green, as well as to Rene Rendon and Crystal Hallmark of Concho Hearts Hospice for their dignified, respectful, and loving care of Jenelle.

Honorary pallbearers are Sully Montgomery, Frank Guzman, Clint Harrison, Jeremy Harrison, Mike Bunyard, and Don Foster.
