Doodie was born on October 7, 1937, in San Angelo to Robert Lee Green Sr and Arlevia Kennon Green- Jones. He attended high school; his freshman through senior years at Central High School. In 1956, he proudly became one of only two African American students on Central's first integrated track team, to step foot on what is now known as the San Angelo Bobcat Stadium. He graduated the next year from Central High School with the Class of 1957.

Some years later Doodie met the love of his life, Glinder Keno. They were joined together in marriage on October 27, 1967. It was not long after becoming a husband and learning about the bible that he decided to dedicate his life to Christ. So he obeyed the gospel, was baptized and became a member of the Church of Christ. He and his wife attended the Lillie Street Church of Christ together faithfully until his health started to decline.

Lonnie found joy in numerous physical hobbies and activities, including, boxing, swimming and running the Picnic Bend Pool as a lifeguard, and even fishing as much as he could. However, he had a true passion for helping others improve their way of life doing rehabilitation and physical therapy. It was in 1969, after being hired as a physical therapist technician at Shannon Medical Center that he realized that God had blessed him with the ability to really change and make a difference in people's lives . He became a very well-known and loved therapist at the clinic for twenty eight years until he retired in 1995.

Whether it was preparing meals for those who came to him hungry, or just offering spiritual guidance for those that needed advice, Lonnie always managed to find a way to take time to help people who needed his helping hand. He has been such a positive spiritual influence to so many. and will forever hold a special place in the hearts of all.

Lonnie was preceded in death by his mother and father; one son, Lonnie Green Jr.; and a daughter, Arlene Green Meza.

He is survived by his wife of fifty two years, Glinder, Keno Green; one son Keith (Angela); two daughters, Lisa Keno - Rose and Sherel (Lesli) Martin; twelve grandkids, thirteen great grandkids, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
